A week is enough for a focused introduction — typically the Cultural Triangle and hill country, or a wildlife-and-beach combination. Ten days allows a more complete loop covering ancient cities, tea country and a coastal finish without feeling rushed. Two weeks or more opens up genuinely remote areas — Jaffna in the north, Arugam Bay's surf season, or a slower pace through the south with time for whale watching and multiple safari days. The biggest planning mistake we see is trying to cover too much ground in too little time. Sri Lanka's roads, while improving, mean journeys often take longer than distances alone suggest — building in rest days pays off.
